Minimal Luxe / Danielle Foster
Danielle Foster Spring/Summer 2014 (Photos by me)
A couple of weeks ago, I took a bus in London for my own personal maiden voyage, to Hackney, to visit the studio of accessories designer and model, Danielle Foster, someone who’s work I’ve admired for some time now. When Danielle asked me if I’d like to visit her studio, of course, I jumped at the chance for two reasons – to meet her in person and to see her British-made leatherwork in its….erm…..well, flesh? (sorry I’m not sorry for that pun).
Danielle’s accessories are unique. They’re minimal, modern and of exceptional quality. All Danielle’s samples (in the image above) are made by her own talented hand, which, if anything to go by for her Spring/Summer 2014 collection, will be something worth waiting for. It takes alot to set yourself up as a designer, as a designer in London, in an already competitive market, but the uniqueness and diversity of the designs of these pieces crafted from leather, offer something alternative to the mass of replicated runway pieces over-saturating our screens, our arms, our bodies. Danielle has also worked closely alongside Charlie May previously, supplying the accessories to Charlie’s clothing designs, a clever and natural partnership making complete sense.
With the SS14 collection dropping sometime next February, all I’m thinking now is eenie, meenie, mini, mo…..
Danielle’s accessories are available to order via her website. You can also follow her on Twitter and Facebook.
Such beautiful pieces and I agree that it’s nice to find something unique from an emerging designer when there are so many options, from high-end to high-street.
