New / Beauty Hauling
The older I become, the more I invest in quality skincare products. I’m not usually one to spend a lot on beauty products, though this has also recently changed too, especially since I was sold this Anti-Wrinkle Serum Under-Eye Concealer from By Terry (I got mine at Space NK.). I was looking for an equivalent to YSL’s Touche Eclat, which By Terry do sell (its called VIP Touch-Expert Advanced) however when I asked the sales person to compare the two on my eyes, this Terrybly Densiliss won hands downs. Its described as ‘an utter phenomenon of targeted wrinkle reparation’ featuring a blend of age-correcting and firming benefits. With a soft doe-foot applicator, barely any of the product is required to smooth under your eyes, as its enriched with premium mineral pigments. With a matte and even finish, it lasts all day, doesn’t sit in any wrinkles (though I must admit I feel quite lucky that I don’t have too many yet) and leaves your eyes looking bright and refreshed. When I’m trying to achieve a beachy, natural look where you can actually see my skin and not 1/2 an inch of foundation, I add a little of this and just a touch of bronzer to my cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Its quite a pricey product but its going to last a long while and with the added ingredients which claim to assist ageing skin, I see it more as a skincare investment, rather than beauty, which I think is how I managed to justify the cost to myself.
Next up, is this Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Primer by Nars, also from Space NK. There isn’t a lot to say about this product apart from it does exactly what it says. Your eyeshadow stays exactly where it was put first thing in the morning and it stops your makeup from creasing. For me, its worth every penny as I have a pet hate with eyeshadows sitting in creases. My sister recommended this to me and I’m glad I took her advise, because its an epic product (though you can’t really go wrong with any Nars product, in my experience).
Charlotte Tilbury make-up comes highly recommended every time I read about it – I’ve never read a bad word and it seems for be for good reason. The Rock ‘N’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Bedroom Black should be a make-up bag hall of fame-type product. Its pigment depth is so good, it blends like a dream and it stays put without being impossible to remove at the end of the day. I like to add a little to the outer corners of my eyes, and then I blend it with a thin brush to smoke it out a little. Its pretty unlikely I’ll ever need an alternative brand to this pencil – its perfect. I bought mine from Charlotte Tilburys website directly and it came just a couple of days later in some very sophisticated packaging.
The other product I bought at the same time, was Charlotte Tilburys Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Iconic Nude. I’m almost immediately sold when it comes to any product with ‘nude’ in its name and for me, with my olive skin tone, this product is the perfect nude – it has the correct balance of pink and peach (I find many nude shades have too much orange and not enough pink for olive skin) and its finish is matte and creamy, so doesn’t leave your lips dry, however I do apply lip balm first, which I blot with a tissue before I apply the colour over the top. Charlotte Tilbury wins again!
