The Style Miscellany
I see so many interesting articles, which I want to write about, but I can’t possibly write about them all. So, rather than not mention them at all, here’s a new feature called ‘The Style Miscellany’ which I can summarise all I wanted to share. And ask myself the rhetorical question of why didn’t I think of this before.
Jimmy Choo Autumn/Winter Stylemakers for Choo 24:7
Street style favorites, Natalie Joos and Viviana Volpicella will be featured as headline Stylemakers for Jimmy Choo this season on the ‘Choo 24:7 Stylemakers’ microsite. Valentino : Master of Couture at Somerset House
This major new exhibition celebrating the life and work of Valentino will showcase over 130 exquisite haute couture designs worn by icons such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow in an exciting installation created specially for Somerset House.
Divided into three sections; visitors will start with a private view of Valentino’s world through photographs from his personal archive, offering an intimate portrait of the life of the master. The exhibition then unfolds into a couture fashion show where roles are reversed with visitors walking the catwalk to view a staggering one hundred and thirty Valentino haute couture designs. Valentino: Master of Couture promises to be a journey into the secretive world of Italian couture.
The final section will unpick the painstaking processes of crafting couture exemplified by the stunning wedding dress of Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, demonstrating the beauty of the work of les petit mains who sew each stitch by hand. In addition a specially commissioned group of films will allow behind-the scenes access to the Valentino atelier, where the craft of couture is demonstrated in a series of fascinating samples. Finally, discover more about the man, the icon, by exploring the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum.
This exhibition is open from November 29th until 3rd March 2013. You can find more information and book tickets here.
Mimi Berry Designer Bags & Purses
I had never heard of Mimi Berry until today, when I was emailed a selection of their beautiful leather bags and leather accessories. Manufactured here in the UK, which is always a major selling point, Mimi Berry bags been featured in Vogue, Easy Living, Stella & Grazia and since I’ve been looking for a new slimline purse to fit into my Chanel bag (I can’t find one slim enough to fit), I will definitely be taking a look at Mimi Berry’s selection. Here’s a little teaser to tempt you to visit their website.
Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness’ Video
I caught Lana Del Rey’s video today of her song ‘Summertime Sadness’ (again, WHERE HAVE I BEEN?) Featuring Jamie King as Lana Del Rey’s girlfriend, its so beautiful yet so sad. Her video’s always have an authentic vintage home-movie feel, all atmospheric, eerie and romantic….not like any of that sickly Tulisa crap we’re faced with, thats for sure. If you’re not a Lana Del Rey fan, still take a little look at her video for a bit of creative voyeurism.
