With the seasons changing from Summer to Autumn, quite obviously this year, though I love Summer and crave it by December 1st, I also love Autumn. For me, its a time for turning over a new leaf . I prefer to do it now rather than December and that’s probably to do with going back to school in September and receiving fresh exercise books to write perfectly neatly on the opening page, which gradually deteriorates as the novelty wears off. In changing seasons, we dress differently and with the open fire getting a new lease of life, our skin needs extra help too. This Nude Replenishing Day Cream from Space NK claims to stimulate the skin to produce its own anti-ageing ingredients, and after the summer, I know for sure that my skin needs a rest and some extra TLC. You can hide your body but you can’t hide your face. And once your skin is moisturised and protected from the forthcoming frost (which makes me become a hermit), brighten your cheeks and make yourself look alive with this perfect quad of colour from Nars. A Space NK exclusive, this Foreplay Palette by Nars contains the bestselling Orgasm Blush plus vivid shades of pink and peach and a shimmering gold to create your own personalised glow. But be careful, winter light is harsh and unforgiving so apply in front of a window in full daylight to avoid looking like you’ve been under a sun lamp (which you shouldn’t be doing anyway).
One of my other favourite things to do on cold September evenings (and often throughout the day) is light scented candles, especially this Pomegranate Noir Candle by Jo Malone. If you like heady, deep, sweet woody smells, then this candle needs to be tried at least once. I was out shopping for candles last week and was deliberating over those infused reed thingys versus the candle. Though I do love a permanently sweet-smelling home which the diffuser offers (I remembered the word), I also love being able to light a candle. Its warming, homely and scented….so the candle won. Oh I know…the things you write about post-30. I hope you’re still with me. Autumn needn’t be dull – add some colour to your wardrobe and skip to school/work/the shops. You may be embarrassed, so pretend you’re with the kids in front. You’ll definitely feel invigorated.
