How To Wear…..Accessories

Accessories are the one thing I cannot do without. Even if you throw on jeans and a t-shirt, a few bangles and a bib necklace can alter the entire look. They add an element of thought and consideration to an outfit, it shows you care about what you’re wearing. You can dress a look down with accessories as much as you can up. A scarf, for example, over a black dress allows it to become more laid back and a large pair of chandelier earrings with a t-shirt dress turn it from a super-casual Sunday morning outfit to a lunch date outfit.

One of my favourite looks is to wear two matching cuffs on each wrist. I love the symmetry they create. They need to be big enough to be noticed but not too big otherwise your forearms can become stumpy looking (unless you’re Giselle).

When wearing accessories, if what you’re wearing is printed , then jewellery is often best kept simple, although thats not always the case. Sometimes a statement necklace can look amazing with print, I find its best to just try it out and see how you feel when you put the pieces together.

Big, bold, delicate, chunky, whatever the case, try it! Layer it up, be adventurous, be clever….just be happy!

  1. Couldn’t agree more. My favourite accessory is usually a big necklace or a scarf. I like your idea of a matching cuff on each wrist, did you know it was a “trend” in Victorian times?
